1. Install and connect the recorder
- Sign in at app.thetourko.com (or create a free account).
- In the app, open Settings → Extension and download the Chrome extension. Unzip it.
- Open
chrome://extensions, turn on Developer mode, click Load unpacked and pick the unzippedthetourko-recorderfolder. - Reload the app and click Connect. The recorder now saves into your workspace.
You can also record without signing in: the recording stays in your browser, and you sign in when you want to edit and share it.
2. Record a flow
- Open the page you want to show, click the recorder's icon and choose Record this tab.
- Click through your product the way you would on a call. Every click becomes a numbered step, captured the moment you click.
- Use Capture in the recording panel for a screen without a click (it becomes a text card), and Pause to set something up off camera.
- Click Stop. The demo uploads and opens in the editor.
Before you record, the recorder's Privacy and redaction settings can mask email addresses, IP addresses and API keys on every captured screen.
3. Edit in the editor
The first time you open the editor, a short tour shows you around. You can take it again from the Help button (the question mark) in the top bar.
- Storyboard (left): every step in order. Pick one to edit it, and add text cards or lead forms between steps.
- Stage (middle): the captured screen. Drag the step's marker to move the hotspot, and drag the frame's edges to fit it to the button.
- Step tab (right): what the step does (the viewer clicks to continue, a text card, or a lead form that captures an email), its caption, and its marker, card position and zoom.
- Content, Voice, Languages and Design tabs: chapters and find and replace, narration, translations, and your colours and logo.
Click Save to keep your changes (the top bar says when some aren't saved yet). Undo (Ctrl+Z or ⌘Z) takes a change back.
4. Let AI do the writing (paid plans)
- Captions: Draft with AI on a step writes its caption from what was clicked. On the Content tab, Draft all captions does every step at once and can leave the captions you wrote yourself alone.
- Chapters: Name chapters with AI gives each chapter a short title.
- Voiceover: on the Voice tab, pick a voice and generate narration for every step. Viewers can turn it on or off.
- AI presenter: a presenter on camera who speaks each step.
- Languages: add a language and translate captions, chapter names, buttons and lead forms. Viewers see their browser's language when the demo has it.
AI uses the monthly credits that come with your plan. For captions it sends the clicked label, the page title and headings and the current caption: never page content, screenshots or typed values. The Free plan has no AI features. See Pricing.
5. Publish and share
- Click Preview to play the demo the way a viewer sees it, then Publish.
- Click Share (or open Sharing in the app) for the embed code. Set its size and options; the code updates as you change them. Paste it into your website.
- On paid plans, create share links for sales follow-ups: one per account or campaign, with an optional password or work-email gate and an expiry, each with its own analytics.
On the Free plan, demos are shared by embedding only and show a small TheTourKo badge. Paid plans remove the badge and add links and exports.
6. See how it's doing
Analytics shows views, how far viewers got, where they stopped and the leads your forms collected, demo by demo.
